Churches in Cebu City, Philippines ruined by an Earthquake

Cebu City is known as the second capital of Philippines and centre of trade and commerce in the southern part or visayas region.Cebu City is the settlement of Spanish colony in 16th century.

Black Nazarene, Flores de Mayo or Flowers of May, Sinulog and Ati-Atihan are one the famous festival or fiestas in Cebu. Many of our tourists from locals to international countries visit Cebu during this days to witness this events.

Unfortunately, Cebu City recently experienced a great tragedy that makes many Cebuanos shed tears and divides their faith when they face earthquake which makes many of our historical churches were destroyed.

Here's the lists of Churches in Cebu affected by this Earthquake:

Basilica Minore del Santo Niño in Cebu City
Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral in Cebu City
St. Catherine’s Church in Carcar, Cebu City

San Pedro Apostol Church in Loboc, Bohol
Church of Our Lady of Light in Loon, Bohol
Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Baclayon, Bohol
Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Dauis, Bohol
San Nicolas Church in Dimiao, Bohol
Santa Cruz Parish Church in Maribojoc, Bohol
Santissima Trinidad Parish in Loay, Bohol

National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) will be having a difficult time to restore the beauty of the ruined churches. Assurance after the restoration may not be the same. At least we still have the glimpse of what the beauty they hold before the earthquakes striked.

It is very sad at my part because I haven't given a chance to see the beauty of Cebu.
