“If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?”

This is a tough question, I must say and like I'm competing in a beauty pageant. hahaha. Anyway, Let's go back to the question. If there's one thing I can give to the Philippines that would be the gift of helping others. I may not be a rich person but I will be generously share the resources which given by our Lord to me and my family.  To help them the best way I can regardless of what's their race are inside or outside the Philippines especially to Filipino.

Extending Help to the needy
" No one has ever become poor by giving.” - Anne Frank

It's so hard to believe that many people nowadays are in doubt of helping others. We cannot eliminate the fact that good Samaritan is numbered and beginning to be extinct for this is one of the traits admired by other people. You cannot deny the fact that somewhere in our deep part of our hearts that you like to help others.

Do you remember when Philippines were visited by the typhoon, Yolanda?

Who is on earth that cannot recall the tragedy brought by Haiyan also known as Yolanda? Many people from the Eastern Visayas Region suffered emotionally, physically and mentally and financially. Losing your loved ones in calamities or tragedies such as this is something hard to accept. Often, it takes time to move on.

If we just extend our hearts to them by giving donations or even the littlest things we can give, these can help them uplift their lowly spirits. Doing such a simple act could be small as we think. But for those who have none, our act is already a big help to them to survive another day. By this act, we are already showing love to our fellow countrymen.

Helping people who are in need
Power is the ability to do good things for others - Brooke Astor

If my fairyGlobe mother could grant my wish to have my own iPad Air. I will use this instrument to awaken the traits of a good Filipino Samaritan in their hearts by creating and useful blog to help others. But for now, I will start applying this to my community and I hope one of neighbors able to find the good cause of this action.

“Give freely to the world these gifts of love and compassion. Do not concern yourself with how much you receive in return, just know in your heart it will be returned.” -- Steve Maraboli

If I had the ability to help the Philippines by giving gift I would give them a Advanced Military equipment - The military served as the protection of a country, it protects not only the higher-ups people but also the overall citizen of the country. To prevent annihilation of our people and country of the possible war that could occur we couldn't afford to be possibly defenseless and just let the invaders take advantage of us without putting much a fight. And its also help and served our people at time of crisis.

I’ve been a Globe user for 14 years and through this #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014
contest, I am glad to be given the chance to possibly contribute something to my country in collaboration with a brand and company I trust and believe in.

If I were given the chance to give a tangible gift to the Philippines in partnership with GLOBE TELECOM, I would like to create a mobile app dedicated to encouraging and acknowledging acts of kindness. The mobile app will be called Good Vibes, or simply GV.

Good Vibes is about doing, noticing and cultivating simple acts of generosity that ultimately, make an impact and create a difference in other people’s lives.

A simple call, text or email are just some of the ways we can extend our friendship and show concern to others. Just like Globe, the Good Vibes app is ultimately about relationships- treating people with compassion and kindness and enriching each other’s lives. It is a testament to how little things can make great things possible, how selflessly reaching out to others brings people together and therefore, makes the world smaller.

Gifts can be given in many forms. It can be tangible things, nice words and your presence. However, the best and most expensive gift we could give would be a prayer. Uttering a prayer for the people who were devastated by the typhoon and their families. We should offer also offer prayers for the eternal repose of the souls who died. Nowadays, people tend to call on God only when they ask for something. Let's change our mentality. We should call on HIM not only in our darkest hours but also in our happiest moments. Let's thank him for the gift of life he gave us so that we can give more gifts to those who are in need.

The first time I heard this question from a friend made time for me to think of the gifts that I can give to them. Just like the author said, me too do not have money to help the people in the Philippines. Until I get to the point, I was stopped and saw things slowly moving when I saw someone gave their donuts to the beggars and street children sleeping along the streets. My heart was amazed and my mind started to think of every man. I will honestly say that I am a selfish person and do not know how to give something to someone without condition. But that time and until this day I believe all the Filipino out there have a loving heart and a helping hand to prove that we can act as one. Bad people are not always bad. People change, all are permanent except for change. To God be the glory. He made me realized the three gifts that I should give to the Filipino people without thinking of being a rich person or having full pockets. And those gifts are PRAYERS (for them to remember God all the time), a LOVING HEART (for them to feel that they were not alone) and a HELPING HAND (for them to become strong and build their life for this another chance)

Well, thanks to the author, KENNETH TAN for making this article so useful and inspiring. There are things that worth sharing and this has been explained and totally shared on this blog. Just pursue what your passion is because you have an idea to inspire every Filipino out there.

Sometimes people think that helping requires a big amount and because I earn less then others I won't be able to give anything.

This mind set for me is very wrong Let us always remember that someone maybe richer than you someone also is poorer than you. With this mind set it can allow you to give more to other. If you cannot give material things you can also give assistance in packing or delivering, sending out messages to others through text or email. You can try to adopt a certain person or look for a place for them to stay.

Helping out should always come from the heart and not being planned. It is automatic.

If there’s one thing that I can give my dear country that would be …. The gift of Health.

I want to do a medical mission with the help of Nuffnang Philippines and Globe thru #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014

Health is wealth. No amount of money, time and effort can ever, ever, bring the best of your health back, once it’s gone.

In my 6 years of practice as a nurse, I have seen how our healthcare system struggles to provide quality care for our countrymen, may it be in manpower, medicines, or equipments both in the community and hospital.

I’ve seen people deteriorating day by day because they can’t afford to go to a doctor. I’ve seen patients die because their families didn’t have enough money to buy basic medicines. I’ve also seen families giving up their sick loved ones and literally, waited for their last breathes, since they cannot afford another day for the life support of the deteriorating loved one.

I am believing that we can do something about this. One of those needy, ailing, indigent patients could be your mom, dad, granparent, relative, dear friend, loved one…

In short, we are all CONNECTED, one way or another. So it is not just a matter of “about them” and “about us” because it is ABOUT US — ALL OF US.

If I can give something to the Philippines that is immaterial, that would be Discipline. If one person wakes up one morning and decided that "starting today, I will follow rules and the law, I will be a disciplined citizen." And religiously and conscientiously does this everyday for the rest of his life, and other people will see this change and because of this example others will follow suit. If this will be our mentality, don't you think our country would be a better place to live in? Where: - people don't throw their trash just anywhere, drivers follow their lanes, public utility vehicles stops at points only where it is allowed to drop or pick up passengers, people cross where it s only allowed to cross the street, motorists follow the speed limit and are diligent, people know how to fall in line and don't cut in a line, we arrive in meetings or gatherings on time, we don't vandalize and other thousand more things that we can do to show discipline.

The tangible thing that I want to give to the Philippines is the gift of Education. I still strongly believe that education is the key for success; yes, there are those who make their lives and the lives of their loved ones easier and comfortable by making a living and succeeding in their fields even though they have not finished school. But that's one in a million. Having proper education will still give someone an edge to survive in this world. One can get a better paying job, thus, one will have greater chances of helping his/her family for a better life.

With that being said, to answer the question: "If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?”, I would like #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014 help me by Adopting a Scholar or Donating to REAL LIFE FOUNDATION.

Real LIFE Foundation is a christian non-profit, NGO that was incorporated in 2007 with the vision of seeing thousands of marginalized Filipino youth educated, gainfully employed and uplifting their communities. The goal of Real LIFE Foundation is to transform lives, families & communities through hope and education. Real LIFE Foundation is one of the organizations that is in line with what I believe in. Like them, I strongly regard that education is the key to a better life.

The foundation does not only help its recipients by paying for their tuition, but they also help equip them in most, if not all, that they will need to finish college and what they'll be needing when they start looking for a job. They hold personality development coaching for the scholars and even tackles on how to dress and present their selves properly during job interviews and when they're already employed. Also, the students’ other miscellaneous expenses will be covered, like books, uniforms, OJT expenses and a daily meal & transportation allowance. Because of that the scholars don’t have to worry if they will be able to eat or get to school.

As I've said awhile back, Real LIFE Foundation does not only focuses on the financial side of putting a student in school but also comprehensively addresses the needs of their scholars that will help them thrive after finishing school. This is done through their LIFE Coaching, which is the character development program of the Real LIFE Foundation and which provides mentoring for their scholars in Leadership, Integrity, Faith, and Excellence.

Prolly the best thing that you can give is time. Time is priceless but definitely a powerful tool to help others. Because without it even you have all these glorious resources it wont work out. So the time to act to is now. Give your priceless time in reaching out for others.

The gift I want to share to my fellow Filipino from different part of the work is the gift of sharing. Sharing what you have is a noble act which also done by our Lord Jesus Christ. Following his footstep is one closer to God.

Sharing is the cheapest act you can contribute to all mankind. But priceless to all people who knows to value the word sharing.

If there is one thing I could give as a gift, that is Education. The biggest problems I see now are poverty and unemployment of our fellow citizen and the reason behind these was the educational background. Seems a little unfair to everyone who does not or have not studied but have a 100% qualification in terms of practicality.

If there is one thing I can give to the filipino people that would be a bicycle. Many of us right now is already in sports. But they haven't think about the environment is getting worst each day. Let's use the bicycle for two (2) purposes: (1) to improve health of each filippino individual (2) to save mother earth from air pollution.

Though I have an extensive explanation of my gift on my own post for #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014, here's another gift I would give to my countrymen if can:

Helping hands. A million helping hands.

After Yolanda, I realized that a LOT of people are willing to help. It was my first time to volunteer and repack donations and it was amazingly heartwarming to see strangers talking to each other, hand in hand and helping each other with only one goal for the day. And I want that again, not only during calamities but every single day.
There are still people out there who needs help, RIGHT NOW. Just look at the street children and displaced people everyday.

Here's the plan inside my head: An organization where people of ALL ages -- from grandparents to high schoolers, can join and browse for "projects" online, much like browsing for available jobs, where they can volunteer/donate. This organization can build a lot of projects for different kind of things!

Example:
San Andres Area: Soup Kitchen -- 2/3/14 @ 7pm.
Needed: 5 volunteers to cook, 5 volunteers to distribute, 10 Males for crowd control.
Materials: 4 tables, Bring your own cooking utensils and casserole.

Poblacion area: Basket Ball Court Rebuilding -- 3/15/14 @ 3pm.
Needed: 10 Males for rebuilding bleachers, 10 volunteers to repaint
Materials: 3 Red paints, Nails, Bring your own hammers

Boni area: Basic Tutoring Class -- 4/20/14 @ 8am - 6pm
Needed: 20 volunteers to teach, 10 volunteers to make food.
Materials. Teachers must bring 5 recycled papers and pencils each. Food makers must bring 10 eggs and bread.

NOW, let me ask you, if this website were real. Wouldn't you click that JOIN button?

A million helping hands. Think about it. :)

Here's my own idea for #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014 :

Given the chance to give a gift for the Philippines, I think it would be the "Gift of Light". We are all aware that some families here on the country still don't have access to light, for they don't have the means to pay for electric bills.

Now, an organization called the "Liter of Light" had the same advocacy - to bring lights to Filipino homes by just using PET bottles, water, bleach, and other materials that improvises the light bulb that we use today. Since most of our activities occur in the morning and in the afternoon, this may not cover the whole day, but can help these families most of the day. Not only this project is attainable, but it is also affordable.

If Globe and Liter of Light work hand-in-hand, through my wish, I think that the Philippines would be a brighter place with a brighter future.
